There are so many things I love about this post. You are so thoughtful and always word things so well. We already have a hard time keeping up with our house and the cleaning and there are only us two and the puppy! Just imagine how it will be when the baby arrives. But I think we need to choose our battles, like you said, no one is judging the dust on your shelf or the dog fur in the corner, etc. When people come over unexpectedly or I haven't had time to tidy we always preface it with, our house is a mess. And they always say it isn't! I think we are our own worst enemies and critics. Thanks for the texts this weekend. :) xoxo

On my computer!!! So I can actually comment on your blog instead of just reading. I wish my ipad would let me comment. At any rat, I know I've texted that I've loved several of your recent posts and this one is no exception. I love the quote your yoga teacher said at the beginning of class....you are strong - you have nothing to prove to anyone! We all see it but it is harder for you yourself to see what is right in front of you, your strengths. :) xoxo Will text you later!

Magic Erasers are the BEST. I buy a box of them every other month or so, from Costco. I am also loving Lysol wipes. Yep. I'm a hippie cleaning product lover most of the time, but in the season of barfies and whatnot, I'm a Lysol wipe addict for faucets, door handles, bathroom and railings. I try to follow behind with some Dr. Bronner's soap and water, so the boys don't pick up the chemical residue, but I feel so much better when I smell the lemony-bleach scent and know I've killed the baddies. :) My third current great love? Coconut oil! I slather my face and hands and body in it, use it for cooking, toss a bit in a smoothie. My face hasn't been this happy in a long time. :)

I'm off to a great start being back at the gym, I've managed to pick up some freelance work so unemployment is not biting too badly and I'm reading up a storm.

Yeah, 2012 is going to be an awesome year whether it likes it or not!

Wow!! You have been busy!! :) How is Miss Alena feeling? Oh, I remember having the chicken pox - I had them and a broken wrist at the same time, it was great fun lol! I kind of miss the Christmas concerts at school, but I have a Hanukkah concert to look forward to on the 18th. I want to think I'm about halfway done shopping but realistically I doubt it. I have a hard time figuring out what to get my 19 year old brother too. We've got him clothes, movies, games, and gift cards in the past. Not very exciting, but what can you do??Good work on your final grades and good luck on the last exams. I love Pampered Chef, can't wait to hear more about it!

My girls get along really well too, Michelle, and we stress the importance of sibling support. And I TOTALLY take it personally and get really hurt when they do hurtful things to each other! I think part of it is seeing someone hurt my child and another part of it is seeing my child commit a hurtful act. Thanks for the really great comment :)

It's so interesting to me, this scorn thing. We homeschool, and I'm always really gratified to see that ALL the kids play together respectfully and inclusively (for the most part) when we have group park days or whatever. That dynamic was one I hoped to avoid by not having my kids in school. But I will tell you, they still learn it somewhere, and my boys do act that way to one another at times. I don't think it's that kids/people are wired to be spiteful, I think we are savvy social learners so we quickly try on actions we see in others that provoked a response in us. It's a power thing, I think, too. Sibling conflict hurts me and angers me - it's a big struggle for me not to overrreact when it happens, and I take it so personally! I have to remember it's part of them navigating the social world both in our home environment and in the bigger world. I can guide, but ultimately the way they treat others, family or not, is their path to journey...

Love this! If only more people were more honest about things like this. TV as a babysitter, making different things for my kids to eat, letting the kids eat meals in front of the TV, negotiating with my children (because no, I'm the mom! There is no negotiating!). Always nice to know I'm not the only one eating humble pie!
